League : Premier League
Match : West Ham United vs Watford
Tip : Westham WIN
Safety : 80%
Things didn’t look good for West Ham at the start of the season. Despite shelling out a large chunk of change during the summer transfer window, as well as bringing in Premier League winning manager Manuel Pellegrini, The Hammers began the campaign with 4 consecutive defeats and the London Stadium faithful started to turn on their underperforming players again.
The future started to look a little brighter when they beat Everton in gameweek 5, and while there have been a few more slips along the way, the fans will be extremely happy with how their team are performing at the moment.
Last weekend West Ham beat bottom of the table Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage to secure their 4th consecutive Premier League win. They have scored 11 goals in this period, and on Saturday they will be hoping to secure 5 straight Premier League wins for the first time since 2006.
Watford’s season has almost been the reverse of West Ham’s. They started with an excellent run of 4 wins on the bounce in the Premier League, but the wheels on Javi Gracia’s tenure have started to show a bit of a wobble.
The Hornets did manage to get a hard fought 3-2 win over Cardiff last weekend, although the fact that their comfortable 3-0 lead was almost instantaneously turned into a nervy 1 goal lead is a worry. This ended a run of 6 games without a win, and they have dropped down to 10th in the table following this run. West Ham, meanwhile, have leapfrogged them into 9th.
Away from home Watford have struggled recently, failing to win their last 4 trips away and only picking up 2 wins from 8 away days this season. The London Stadium, which isn’t exactly known for it’s fortress-like qualities, has actually seen West Ham win 4 of their last 6 league games there. They have only lost to Spurs and Manchester City in this home period, and even managed to draw against Chelsea and beat Manchester United.
Considering the confidence flowing through The Hammers at the moment, we think backing a West Ham win here looks a great choice along with another high scoring 3-1 correct score predictions. We’re also backing Felipe Anderson to find the net after the Brazilian scored 3 goals in his last 4 home appearances.
